The World AIDS Day Planning Committee of Cincinnati urges surrounding communities to participate by ringing bells 19 times at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 1, signifying 19 years of the epidemic. They also encourage their community members to dim all lights in their houses or places of business from 7:45 to 8 pm, which will link communities throughout the U.S. in a unified observance when the White House dims its lights, as well. This will signify the commitment to addressing the AIDS pandemic and will give tribute to people living with HIV/AIDS and to those who have died from AIDS.

Akron needs healthy places to go that are not bars— places to learn and meet people. For the first 3 Friday's in December, we will try to offer such a safe and fun space. We will begin with a service at 8 PM, a time of prayer, music and a lesson on spirituality. Then we will gather in the fellowship hall for conversation, music, games and light snacks until midnight. Plan to join us and talk this up with folks who are not quite ready for church but want places without alcohol or smoke to gather. One may attend the lesson, the fellowship, or both. We are located at 60 North Arlington in Akron near the intersection of Market and Arlington. (26)
